Overview

Chess Clock (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a chess timer application available on iOS and the web at chess-clock.app. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data We Collect

Clock Data: Match names, time controls, and clock state you create within the app. This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via Firebase when you use the Live Sharing feature.

Anonymous Authentication: When you use Live Sharing, we create an anonymous session using Firebase Authentication. No personal information (email, name, phone number) is collected. The anonymous identifier is used solely to authorize read/write access to shared clock data.

Analytics: The iOS app uses privacy-friendly analytics. We collect anonymous usage events to improve the app. No personal data is included.

Live Sharing

When you share a clock live, the clock state (player names, time remaining, time control) is stored temporarily in Google Firebase Firestore. This data is accessible to anyone who has the 6-character share code. Shared data can be deleted by the game owner at any time by stopping the share.

  • We do not track your location
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties
