Chess Clock (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a chess timer application available on iOS and the web at chess-clock.app. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Clock Data: Match names, time controls, and clock state you create within the app. This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via Firebase when you use the Live Sharing feature.
Anonymous Authentication: When you use Live Sharing, we create an anonymous session using Firebase Authentication. No personal information (email, name, phone number) is collected. The anonymous identifier is used solely to authorize read/write access to shared clock data.
Analytics: The iOS app uses privacy-friendly analytics. We collect anonymous usage events to improve the app. No personal data is included.
When you share a clock live, the clock state (player names, time remaining, time control) is stored temporarily in Google Firebase Firestore. This data is accessible to anyone who has the 6-character share code. Shared data can be deleted by the game owner at any time by stopping the share.
iOS app: Clock data is stored on your device.
Shared clocks: Stored in Google Firebase Firestore (US servers) for the duration of the sharing session.
Chess Clock does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to use.
